Re: Timid and Docile Asians
Shogun. There are probably many reasons for this.
Australia is in a unique position being in close proximity to all the Asian nations. Tertiary education is a big export with many Asians coming here for a number of years to study, and some evntually receive the opportunity to work and settle here, which is an attractive incentive for many of them. It is not necessarily easy to come here, and even harder to stay.
That being the case:
- many are from over-crowded societies, so crowds and probably some chikaning experience exists. So they have either already experienced it or heard from their friends, and know what to expect. It isn't dangerous, and inside, they/we all love the experience. So why not?
- being "visitors" and having finally got here, they don't want to "make trouble" which will go on to thier immigration/visa records
- language is still a problem for many, so they don't know what to say in English
- women are dominated in the societies they come from. They are used to being submissive.
- They are taught in their culture not to embarrass people. So even those who have been here for many years or even grew up here, will apply that principle to the chikan. They will very subtly move away or change position if they do not want to participate, but do it in such a way as to make it seem natural and not draw attention from others, and also "not" because you have "offended" them. This is why when you have someone who is not resisting and cannot move away, in the right circumstances, you can even take their hand and hald it against you or (as you no doubt have seen on the Japanese chikan train clips) under certain circumstances, go so much further than you might dream of.
- Sexual freedom is not encouraged in their societies so when something like chikaning happens, I am certain there are many things running through their minds including conflict between excitement and desire to participate and persisting with the mores of their upbringing. So they do nothing.
- In many muslim countries as well as India, there are separate train carriages and even buses for women. These are the first times for many that they are in crowded situations together with men on a regular basis.
- In other cases, they come from well-to-do families (study is not cheap). In their home environment, they may have been driven to/from schooling and anywhere else. This is their first exeperiences with public transport.
- Finally, I just think some Asians really LOVE the opportunity
Now, having said all that, not all Asians fit into those categories, I am not an anthroplologist nor psychologist, these are my thoughts, AND I do live in a totally western society where chikaning would be treated as sexual assault - so care and respect are always a MUST.
I enjoy what I do, and I always hope that my "partners" also enjoy. I bemoan the fact that it is such a "silent", non-conversational, secretive past-time that always ends with both parties parting without much (if any) acknowledgement to one another, probably to never meet again, even though in many circumstances, both may wish to have taken the opportunity to take it further. I am sure I have "warmed" them up for their next encounter with their regular partner or next masturbation session - as they have for me. I guess it's a case of shop in the supermarket, but always eat at home.
