Callahan Sentenced

Sentencing was handed down today in the sexual assault case involving former British Transport Police Inspector Callahan. The ex-Inspector had pled guilty to sexual assault charges wherein he was charged with routinely engaging in acts of frottage against female passengers in the London underground. Frottage, or "frotteurism", involves the rubbing of one's body against a stranger for the purpose of achieving sexual arousal and gratification.

Prior to today's sentencing hearing, many lurid details describing the nature of Callahan's criminal acts were leaked to the press. Those details described Callahan's daily habit of pressing his groin into the buttocks of his young female victims on crowded commuter trains, often with his zipper lowered and his penis exposed. Other details told of how Callahan also often resorted to depositing and wiping saliva and semen into the hair and onto the exposed skin of his targets.

Given Callahan's prior standing as a keeper of the public trust, the court handed him the most severe penalties possible for a first time charge. Sentencing details include a 6 month jail term without the possibility of parole, a hefty fine of more than triple that normally imposed for a first offense, and 2 years of probabtion upon release from jail. Once his jail term has been served, Callahan will also be required to see a court appointed psychiatrist for the length of the mandatory 2 years of probation. Lastly, Callahan will be required to register with the proper authorities as a known and predatory sex offender.

In a press conference held immediately after the sentencing hearing, the two victims who had come forward to press charges in this case, Heather and Christina, addressed the media. Both indicated that Callahan had it coming and got just what he deserved. However, both women stunned the press when they admitted that they sometimes actually enjoyed being fondled and subjected to frottage from strange men in crowded places. Christina stated that whether she actually became angry at a man for sexually assaulting her totally depended on her whims and how she felt that day. She noted that Callahan had made the mistake of assaulting her while she was experiencing menstrual cramps and feeling bloated. Heather told shocked reporters that all was "OK" until Callahan started shampooing the back of her noggin with semen and saliva.

Prison officials have told the BBC that Callahan will be imprisoned in a secure and isolated portion of the detention facility in order for his own safety. Quoting the warden, "The inmates have their own way of exacting justice when it comes to their sexually deviant jailmates."
