We had the same problems in India 30 years ago. It's very unpleasant to see your wife or GF being grabbed by these sexually frustrated maniacs and even worse for her, but we found the best way to cope with it was to shame the guy in front of other Indians. Just raise your voices and pretty soon you will have a crowd of Indians around giving him a load of verbal or something more.

Eve teasing (they even have a special name for it) is a common sport of young, and not so young Indian men, and is not only directed at foreign visitors. Indian women also have the same problem in crowded places. I remember we, along with a large group of Indian women, had a police escort after the Ram Lila in Agra one time where the molesters were out in force.

I would also advise that if you think you may react strongly in these kind of situations that you stay off the streets during Holi festival or find a quiet place in the hills as this is another opportunity for anti-social elements to indulge themselves.

You don't have to ignore this behavior but unless you learn how to deal with it I am afraid your trip to India will not be all that it could be. Try and remember that the vast majority of people in India are friendly and welcoming and ashamed of these social misfits.
