MASHER Controversy?

In the Hall of Fame, there is a piece allegedly submitted by MASHER on November 24, 2001 entitled "A Guide to Groping in London." After reading many submissions made by MASHER, I do not believe that particular submission was made by him.

There are some clues, even if just little things. First of all, MASHER had a distinctive kind of writing style. It was quite unique to him. The submission to which I refer is, in my opinion, of quite a different writing style.

Second, the writer openly proclaims to be from London in the piece. In all of MASHER's other pieces, it was always hard for me to tell what country he was in, as if he didn't really want to reveal that. Then, all of a sudden in this piece, he's proclaiming it to the world in the title heading. That just doesn't fit with the other writings.

Third, in the piece the writer uses the name "Masher" whereas it's normally spelled "MASHER" elsewhere. I could be wrong, but I conclude that this is a fraudulent subsmission not written by MASHER at all. Indeed, the style subtley reminds me of somebody else who contributes to the board today . . . and who's pen name I shall not state at this time in order to avoid a false accusation. But if he's reading and he did this, you know who you are :-) You'd all probably be surprised at who I think the true author is.

Anyway, maybe I am completely wrong here. Perhaps MASHER is reading and can clear this entire thing up. There have been times in the past where the true identity of an author has been questioned on the board. Undoubtedly, the issue will continue to come up from time to time. Indeed, jay just told us that the "wedding story", one of the best stories of all time, was not written by him, but by an imposter! We appreciate your honesty jay.

When things like this happen, the best Master Ayashi can do is assume that the author is who he says he is until it is establishd otherwise. Loyal readers of the board can help keep things legitimate by "policing" the board. This includes doing things like jay did with regard to the "wedding story," raising questions like I have raised about the MASHER piece, and chasing away plagiarists like that fake SanFranBusRider who was obviously stealing other people's writings and holding them out to be his own. In this way, we protect the integrity of the board.

PS Webmaster, leave the "wedding story" in the Hall . . . it's that good! Perhaps you can indicate there's a question as to what "jay" actually wrote it.
