Master Ayashi, Man of the Month/Year does not fulfill the same purpose as a Hall of Fame (at least as I see it in my head). There are many people who have won a monthly award who are not "Hall of Famers." They may have made only one or two submissions, and then vanished. All winners of monthly awards have not necessarily been consistent and/or quality contributors to Ayashi BBS. On the other hand, there are some who have never won a monthly award who are great, and their writings should be noted as such.

Further, one cannot go to the Man of the Month/Year section and find all the writings of the best writers conveniently in one place. Take my own submissions for example. Only a handful are in the Man of the Month/Year section. In fact, some of my very best ones . . . virtually all of them . . . are not there at all. They can be found by looking in the other sections or by using the search engine, but there is no "convenient" collection of stories written by the very best writers.

That's the real purpose of the Hall of Fame idea really . . . not retroactive recognition . . . but a convenient way to get at the absolute best stories without having to wade through "Sensual Stories", "Memorable Comments", "Archives", "Man of the Year/Month", and the search engine. It's just not very efficient to do it that way, and you spend a long time looking through some stuff that maybe you don't want to see.

So, I guess my recommendation comes out of my own personal desire to have a place on the board where the best stories are easily accessed without a lot of searching and/or scrolling through the other sections. It's more about "easy access" to these stories than it is about "recognition." What yardstick would be used? Keep it simple. Ask your readership which writers have provided the best material and/or made the strongest contributions over time. Then, using that feedback and your own judgment, pick a short list of writers. Then, gather their best stories in one section on the board called "Hall of Fame" and compartmentalize the section by the writers' names. In that section, readers will be able to easily access the very best Ayashi BBS has to offer over the course of the board's existence. Man of the Year/Month falls far short in this regard.
