Re: Professor P - How Careful Can A Chikan Be?
Professor, you asked what a chikan was to do with the fact that all women are not players, which in turn leads to the conclusion that a chikan can get himself into some hot water fast. The practice of chikan is inherently risky. As you say, one can eliminate the risk entirely simply by refraining from chikaning. That is the most responsible advice to give.
However, we all know that many chikans are simply addicted and won't be giving it up anytime soon. Therefore, if a chikan is addicted to continuing, the chikan should at least try to improve his skills by thinking of his deviant acts as a "professionalized practice", and not as merely some weekend game of chance. The "professional chikan" KNOWS that all women are NOT players, and conducts himself accordingly.
Of course, not even a professional chikan is perfect. Nobody can be so good as to eliminate all the risk (like you say, you have to quit for that to happen). BUT, you sure can get away with A LOT by being good :-))) You get away with a lot by having "The Knowledge" and the skills to apply it. At the same time, one must also make a realistic assessment of one's skills and abilities. No matter how much I practice, I will never be as good a golfer as Tiger Woods is.
Professor, your advice is the best advice. A chikan will be safest by quitting. However, my advice is more practical to the addicted chikan who cannot quit it. If a chikan finds himself in an addicted situation, then the chikan should just work on being the best chikan that he can be while remembering to stay within himself and his own abilities until such time as he can truly deal with the challenge of quitting. If the chikan starts to lose control of himself, then he should seek professional help immediately.
